Better Colorado Radon

Residential Radon Mitigation

There are many techniques for mitigation of radon. The most common are:

Sub Slab Depressurization System (SSDS)

lowest level of the property with a concrete slab

  • A hole will be cut in the concrete and some soil removed to create a collection zone
  • Possible to have multiple concrete floor levels

Sub Membrane Depressurization System (SMDS)

  • Crawl space in the lowest level of the property
  • Property may have existing plastic that may require replacement, or just exposes dirt

To note: some properties require both above options (concrete slab and crawl space present)

Radon Resistant New Construction (RRNC)

  • Radon-resistant methods applied from start to finish
  • Sub slab or Sub Membrane vapor barrier installed
  • Pipe rough ins installed through framing to roof

All of these methods require a licensed professional to install and retest to adhere to Colorado Regulations.
